More Visitors!

A few weeks after Mary and the girls left, Meghan Conboy and her boyfriend Jeremy came to visit in late March/early April. It was great to have her here – especially as we have done a lot of traveling together before ☺ They were staying in a hotel up in the 17th district, near Alexis’ school actually. The hotel was just a short ride up the Strassenbahn 43, so it was easy to get to from my apartment.

Meg and Jeremy were only in Vienna for a few days. They spent the majority of their trip in Rome and Switzerland, but I like to think that I showed them a good time in Wien as well. While they were here, we spent a day out at Schönbrunn (upper left is a photo.) We didn’t go into the palace (which I have seen before, a long time ago), but we did walk around the gardens, which are just beautiful. We also climbed up to the Gloriette, which is one of Vienna’s most recognizable landmarks. To the right is a photo of the Gloriette and the gardens.

On Sunday, Meg and I went to hear the Jesuitenkirche choir at High Mass. They were amazing, as always! After Mass, we went to breakfast at Café Central. I had never eaten their breakfasts before – only their pastries, and it was delicious!! They even had bacon, which was a real treat ☺ I love that place. It feels so “old Vienna,” and while there are always a ton of tourists around, there are plenty of Viennese to balance it out. Jeremy decided to sleep in this morning, and I must say, it was great having Meg to myself!

Like I said, though, their time in Vienna was fairly short, and since I was working during it, they did a lot of sight seeing on their own. And since springtime was my season of visitors, I had only a few weeks between Meghan’s visit and my parents’.
